Congratulations to our Project Team, alongside the design team at PRDW, on the SAICE Project Award for the most outstanding Project in the category of Railway and Harbour Engineering for the Matola Coal Terminal – Berth Deepening project. In addition, the project also received a commendation in the category of Outstanding International Project.
This marine works project entailed the berth deepening and upgrading of the fender system at the existing coal terminal at Terminal de Carvão da Matola (TCM) in the Port of Maputo, Mozambique. The purpose of the berth upgrade was to accommodate the loading of larger vessels to increase the terminal throughput.
The project included the necessary dredging and scour protection to deepen the existing berth from -11.5 m CD to an advertised depth of -15.4 m CD. The project also included a new offset fendering system and refurbishment of the existing quay furniture
Well done to all involved!
