Gert Muller – Managing Director Inshore
A founding member and  the former COO of Subtech. Gert is well known and much respected amongst the diving community, having started off as a Navy Diver and gone on to complete his commercial diving qualifications in Scotland in 1991 before working in the offshore oil & gas commercial diving arena. His involvement in the operational and management side of Subtech dates back to 1997 and combined with his offshore diving experience provides Gert with a broad understanding of the marine industry.

Greg Raaff – Projects Director
A professional engineer with a B.Sc Degree in Civil Engineering and a member of the South African Institute of Civil Engineers, Greg has been with Subtech since March 2001. Greg has extensive experience in the construction industry having worked for, amongst others, Frankipile SA as Contracts Manager and Group 5 Civils SA as Site Manager.

Steph Hock – Engineering Director
Having been involved in the Marine & civil engineering field for over 20 years, Steph has a solid and enviable project participation and role player record. With work experience gained from the likes of PRDW, Murray and Roberts Engineering Solutions and Hochtief-Concor, Steph has been involved in the design or construction of, amongst others, the Durban Harbour Entrance Widening Project, the Durban Harbour Services Tunnel Replacement, the Port of Ngqura, the Kalifa Bin Salman Port, and the caisson gate of the Simons Town graving dock.

Quinton Warmback – Commercial Director
Quinton has been involved in the building and civil engineering industry for over 25 years. He completed his National Higher Diploma (Building Surveying) and is a member of the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors. He worked in the Republic of Ireland for 5 years, for a civil engineering contractor and then for a building developer where he held the position of managing quantity surveyor. He returned to SA and joined Group Five Coastal where he held the position of commercial director for 12 years where he gained valuable experience on various building and civil engineering projects. Quinton joined Subtech in April 2018.

Bjorn Anderson – Group Finance Manager
Bjorn joined Subtech in 2016 having recently returned to South Africa from the UK. Bjorn is a Chartered Accountant CA(SA) and brings a wealth of financial experience to Subtech. Bjorn spent 10 years in practice in Durban within the accounting and audit profession, followed by 9 years in the corporate world of London before relocating back to South Africa and joining Subtech.

Anton Van Zyl – Operations Director Inshore
Anton is a keen water enthusiast whose career choice was influenced by his love of the ocean. Having started off as an active recreational diver at a very young age, Anton went on to complete his commercial diving qualification in 2007.  Anton has worked in the commercial diving arena – both on the operational and the training side since 2007. His career at Subtech started in June 2008 as a diver on the Durban Habour Widening Project, working his way up to his current position as Operations Director in 2019.

Nomkhitha Mbele – Business Development Director
Nomkhitha’s first introduction to the marine industry was in her Grade 10 year at Simonstown High school where she participated in an optional maritime programme under the Lawhill Matime Centre as a Safmarine Bursary Holder. On completion of Grade 12 the marine bug had hit and Nomkhitha registered for Nautical Science at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She later moved into the shore based marine sector which lead to Nomkhitha completing her Master’s Degree in Shipping Law from University of Cape Town. She has worked in the marine industry since 2007 for various companies such as the South African Maritime Safety Authority, Smit Amandla Marine (now AMSOL) where she joined as Junior Operations Coordinator and progressed through the ranks to the position of Commercial Manager when she left the company 9 years later. Nomkhitha’s career at Subtech started in September 2016 in the position of Marine Manager, working her way up to her appointment as Business Development Director in 2019.

Andre Krugel – General Manager Support Services
Andre started his career at Subtech in 2001 as a report administrator. Andre was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management Systems of the Subtech Group, for both Inshore and Offshore operations. As Group SHEQ Manager he has always ensured that the highest Safety, Health and Environmental and Quality standards are delivered across the board. In 2019, Andre stepped into the position of General Manager for Support Services and now heads up the Human Resources, Marketing and Media, SHEQ, IT and NDT Inspections divisions.
